Farewell to Tansen

Our last full day in Tansen! We started with breakfast at 7:30am and got ready to spend the morning / early afternoon at Lumbini Medical College. It was about a 30 minute drive down the hill from where we have been staying.

The Preep’s spent their time following some doctors and observing rounds. They saw a number of patients in a short amount of time. The nurses split up into three groups, Sarah Brinks, Sarah Zylstra and Anneke observed in the ICU, Ella observed the ED/ER, and Renee, Ameila and myself were in the OBGYN/NICU ward. We were all grateful to be able to compare this experience to our week spent at the Tansen United Mission Hospital.

We enjoyed a dal bhat meal provided at the Canteen by LMC! This also included conversations with hospital leadership to answer our questions.

The afternoon included naps, games, and packing for our trip to Sri Jana Farms tomorrow. We all appreciate a little extra time to rest after a busy week.

Today, we also enjoyed tea and snacks at Amrita’s house before dinner. Amrita is an old friend of Dr. Beel’s; they have hosted the students for the last couple years. We got to ask them questions about their life in Nepal and share a few songs.

We had dinner at Nanglo’s; (formally our favorite Laasi place) this time a majority of us had either chicken momos or chicken chow mein. We ended up walking back in the pouring rain…but it was a fun experience none the less. Maybe we should listen to Sinniah more closely when he says to bring our rain jackets and headlamps!

Ended the day with devo’s by Kelly. We have greatly enjoyed our time in Tansen and have appreciated everyone’s generous hospitality and kindness. However, we also look forward new places to visit!
