Saree not Sorry

Today we got to sleep in, which was very relative as some woke up at 5 AM and some at 8 AM. We had a late breakfast and then learned about healing through prayer with Dr. Beels.

After our lesson, the nurses and the β€œpreeps” split up once more. The nurses made their way to the nursing school to teach the Nepali nursing students head to toe assessments.

Of course when the nurses were busy doing work, us β€œPreeps” were forced to have fun without them and went on a mini trek with our new best friend Reejus.

As you can see we had absolutely no fun without our nursing buddies. However, all was restored when we got the opportunity to meet our nursing students along with the Nepali nursing students for a cross cultural exchange program. We shared dances, traditional dressing and some snacks!

We made the executive decision to represent all of you and our culture with the Cotton Eyed Joe dance.

The Nepali students then dressed the girls in Sarees and the boys wore thopis.

The boys were a HUGE hit for all the girls!

After our program, we rushed back to the guest house to join the doctors and staff for square dancing and games before the rain!

We finally were forced inside by the rain to have dinner and devotions. Overall, today was such an amazing experience and everyone was so excited to share their culture!

  1. Hello My Dear Beloved Sister in Christ Jesus, How are you doing? Looks like a beautiful place. For someone, who has never written a blog you did well. How’s the food? How’s the weather?
Have a Joyfully Blessed Trip. Prayers of love with hugs!

  2. Wow! I LOVED the videos…..you can’t help but smile when you watch them! The world is so big, yet so small πŸ™‚ This is for sure a life changing trip you all have a front row participation seat at πŸ™‚ Thank you for representing all of America with Cotton Eye Joe πŸ™‚

  3. I think it’s a good thing you all have other aspirations than dancing hahaha!! But an excellent effort!

It’s an amazing, eye-opening experience that you all are having – soak all of it in!! The good, the beautiful, the painful, the ugly, the injustice, the mercy, the shared, the different – each experience has something valuable to teach you.

I look forward to more videos, unless they contain eight-legged natives [shudder].

  4. I completely agree, Marlee! Love the videos, music, dancing, pictures and embracing Nepali culture:)
